Blake Miller is an accomplished entrepreneur with a diverse background in hands-on business management and service industries. His journey began with a passion for helping others and solving problems, coupled with a preference for outdoor, dynamic work environments. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship, he realized that traditional corporate paths were not for him and instead focused on pursuing his entrepreneurial goals.
Drawing inspiration from a part-time job installing Christmas lights during college, Blake launched his first business in the seasonal lighting industry. The success of this venture led to the expansion of multiple businesses, including services in holiday lighting installation, roofing, general contracting, appraisals, and more. Through his experiences, he has developed a strong understanding of business operations, the importance of mentorship, and the value of maintaining a hands-on approach.
Today, Blake leads a growing company that operates in several cities across the country, providing reliable services to homeowners and businesses. He remains committed to fostering a positive work environment for his employees while staying true to his core values of hard work, problem-solving, and helping others. His leadership philosophy emphasizes working "on" the business, not just "in" it, to drive long-term success.
Let us tell you a story...
There once was a young man who was passionate about helping and serving others, but who was lost on his journey in life and wasn't sure what his next step was. He knew he liked helping people, loved a good challenge, enjoyed working with his hands, thrived on solving problems, and you couldn't keep him sitting in a desk 9-5 to save your life! The boy thrived on being outdoors. When he asked "everyone" for their advice and insight about what he should do with his life, all he heard was that he should go to college. It seemed like "the thing" to do. So, without any better ideas, off he went to study.
Four years later, after excelling in education, our young lad emerged with a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship, yet just as perplexed about his life's journey as he was to begin with. He had a choice to make. Prior to graduating he had been offered an internship with a well-known corporation. That's what "everyone" told him he should do. Considering that following "everyone's" advice last time didn't help him find his life's purpose , he looked for another option.
His mind wandered to a part-time job he had in college, installing Christmas lights. While he had fun doing it and made a decent income, it was the company's owner that he reflected on. The older, seasoned entrepreneur had grown from being just a boss to being a friend and mentor. While working for this mentor, our lad not only learned that working outside with his hands was more satisfying to him than any corporate job, but he also learned as much about seasonal businesses and entrepreneurship than he had from his time in college.
So, he decided to try his hand at being an entrepreneur. After a very successful first year of Christmas lights installation, the young man could not bear sitting on the couch twiddling his thumbs just anxiously awaiting the next Christmas season. So, what did he do? He opened another company, of course! Even through some hard life lessons, our lad was experiencing more success than he previously imagined. And, he kept opening up new businesses. Before long two had turned to three, and three had turned to four!
Today, our lad has found his way in life; his purpose, if you will. He helps home and business owners with holiday lighting installation, roofing, general contracting, appraisals, and more, in several cities across the country. He also helps his numerous employees and their families maintain reliable employment. Along the way he's learned that success comes when he works "on" his business instead of "in" it.
Our young lad isn't such a young lad anymore, yet the man he has grown into still follows the same values that he had when he was younger - working with his hands, working in the outdoors, solving unsolvable problems, chasing a good challenge, and helping everyone he can.
